Kan rag KernowThe Kan rag Kernow is an annual song competition to find a song in the Cornish language to represent Cornwall at the Pan Celtic Festival in Ireland, which takes place every spring. Cornwall has met with success in recent years, The Changing Room swept the board in 2015 and singer Benjad won in 2013 and 2012.
Shortlisted entries to the Kan rag Kernow competition compete against one another at a live concert in Cornwall every year, where a panel of judges decides which song will go on to represent Cornwall in Ireland. For further information: Previous Years In 2015, Looe based band, The Changing Room won Kan Rag Kernow (#KanragKernow) in January at the Penventon Hotel in Redruth and went on to win all three prizes at the Pan Celtic Festival: best traditional band, best new song in traditional style, and the International Pan Celtic Song Contest. Entries to the Kan rag Kernow competition should be newly
composed especially for the competition and are welcomed in any
genre of music. All songs must also be written and performed
in Cornish and, if you would like to enter the competition but feel
you don’t have sufficient knowledge of the language to write lyrics
