Yeth an Werin
Informal Pub Gatherings
There are various opportunities to meet with other Cornish
speakers in the informal setting of a pub. Often called a “Yeth an
Werin”, which means “language of the people,” these gatherings are
an excellent opportunity to use or practice your spoken
Cornish.
There are a number of regular gatherings around Cornwall,
including:
– the Royal Standard, Gwinear, Hayle on the first Tuesday of
each month
– the Wig and Pen, Truro on the second and fourth Wednesday of each
month
– the Cornish Arms, St Ives on the third Tuesday of each
month
– the Sportsmans Arms, Heamoor on the third Wednesday of each
month
– the Blue Anchor, Helston on the fourth Monday of each month
– the New Inn, Mabe on the fourth Thursday of each month
– the Bridge Inn, Bridge on the last Tuesday of each
month
– the White Hart Hotel, Launceston on the second Monday of each
month
Outside of Cornwall:
– Y Mochyn Du, Pontcanna, Cardiff, on the first Tuesday of each
month
