Conferences

Every year the Cornish Language Partnership runs a conference to which guest speakers are invited to speak on relevant themes associated with the development of the Cornish language.

2005

In 2005 the conference brought together speakers from other celtic countries to speak about their own experiences of language development, and to initiate some discussions about ways in which Cornish could move forward.

2006

In 2006 the conference focussed on the beginning of the process towards establishing a single written form of Cornish, and speakers from each of the language forms gave presentations on the historical and theoretical backgrounds of each of the forms.  The full report from the 2006 conference can be downloaded below.

2007

A third conference took place in October 2007 at which the Commission established last year to work on the Single Written Form process presented their report and recommendations to a full lecture hall.

The full text of the Commission’s report is available to download below. A list of abbreviations and website links has been added to the end of the document for clarification and ease of reference.

Next Conference

Those of you who have attended the annual conferences over the past three years may have wondered why there was no conference held in September 2008.  It was decided that with the evaluation and strategy review still underway, it would be better to delay this until 31st January 2009.  Further information about the conference, including details of the venue, will be posted on the website as soon as it has been finalised.
