There are already schools which teach some Cornish and there are resources here to support teachers who want to teach it. We intend to develop support for schools, teachers and parents so that there are more chances for children to learn Cornish.

Pre school

You could send your child to a Cornish language pre-school, or we arrange training for early years teachers so that they can introduce Cornish to young children.

Primary school

The Cornish language is particularly useful to engage young children in all curriculum areas as well as enabling development of sense of place. Cornish also provides a good introduction to learning other languages.

Secondary school

The Cornish language can de-familiarise any subject and help students approach it with fresh eyes. While directly applicable to language and local place learning aims, it can add learning outcomes to music, drama, geography, history, and others.

If you already teach Cornish or are thinking of starting a class, please join the teachers association “Ros Dyski”. Ros Dyski is an organisation set up to offer support to those teaching the Cornish Language.
