Council of EuropeCornish Language Partnership delegation meets Council of Europe Committee of ExpertsCornish was recognised by the government in 2003 under the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages, for which the Council of Europe is responsible. The Council monitors the way in which governments are implementing the Charter on a regular basis, meeting with language organisations, local councils and government bodies. This September the Council of Europe paid a monitoring visit to the UK and a delegation from the Partnership, It was a very positive meeting. The situation has changed radically in the three years since the last monitoring visit and Partnership members were able to update the panel on progress and on plans and concerns for the future. The panel will produce a report and recommendations from their UK visit in due course.
