Taster Sessions for Childcare StudentsMAGA spent two mornings in January running Cornish language sessions for students on the Child Care and Early Year’s training courses at Cornwall College, Pool. The courses incorporate a significant amount of work around diversity, and the programme leader, Natalie Berry, felt that it would be beneficial for the students to have an introduction to the Cornish language, to tie in with the increasing number of resources available in Cornish for younger children. The MAGA officers, Jenefer Lowe and Elizabeth Stewart, were joined by Cornish teacher, Polin Prys, and between them they provided the students with a brief background to the language and a range of activities to get them using some words and phrases themselves, which they might in turn be able to use when in placements with pre-school children. The activities were well received, as were copies of a booklet entitled "Young Person’s Survival Guide to Kernewek", which were produced by MAGA especially for the students at Cornwall College. A similar session has also been booked to take place at Saltash College later this month.
