The Building Control team would like to invite you and your colleagues to a free CPD Seminar on:

'A guide to sprinkler alternatives for domestic fire protection' Courtesy of Plumis

The Plumis CPD covers a wide range of core topics. We feel these are important to the Continuous Professional Development of:

  • Architects
  • Building Suveyors
  • Structural Engineers and
  • Specifiers

This CPD objective is to provide sufficient knowledge to make an informed decision on applications to use Automist, in situations where a residential sprinkler or domestic water-mist active fire protection solution is proposed.

The seminar will cover the following items:

  • The origin of Automist
  • Fit with the Regulations - Approved Document B
  • What is Automist?
  • Testing
  • Layouts and applications
  • Personal protection system

Regional Building Excellance Awards 2018

Entries for 2018 are now open

The LABC Regional Building Excellence Awards are the largest business awards in the UK.

Our network covers all local authorities in England and Wales. It is split into 12 regions, each of which holds their own regional awards.

Anyone involved in a construction project can submit an entry to the relevant region. These include:

  • building control surveyors
  • builders
  • architects
  • designers and
  • anyone else involved in a construction project

These are then reviewed and shortlisted by a panel of judges.

Shorlisted entries will be invited to attend the regional awards. Winners will be invited to attend the Grand finals which are held in London and attract over 700 guests.

Our new telephone system is now live. This is part of our drive to continually improve the service that we provide to you.

The 01209 614420 and 01208 265658 will no longer be in use. For a short period of time there will be an automated message providing you with the correct number and asking you to redial.

The 01872 224792 number contains a new Intelligent Voice Routing (IVR) telephone dialling system. This will have 5 options for you to choose from:

Option 1 – To book an inspection or report a dangerous structure
Option 2 – To make an application or to find out if you need to make an application
Option 3 – To make a payment
Option 4 – For all technical enquiries
Option 5 – For anything else

We are confident the new system will improve our service to you. It will ensure that your call is directed to the most appropriate officer to action your request.
